Can I edit my own posts?

To edit or delete your posts, click the Edit this threadbutton by the post you want to edit. If your post was the first in the thread, then deleting the post may result in the removal of the entire thread.

After you have made your modifications, a note may appear, which notifies other users that you have edited your post. Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages but this note may not appear when they do so.

What Are Moderators?

Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating.

Why was my post edited?

Moderators and administrators are able to edit posts. If your post has been edited, one of these reasons probably applied: 1) It had a problem with the markup which made it appear wrong 2) It contained a very long quoted text (from a previous post) which was edited/deleted to avoid cluttering. Please try to keep quoting down to a minimum - quote only what you need in order for others to keep track of a discussion. 3) It contained content which was illegal or in direct breach with our FAQ. If your post has been edited and you feel it was incorrectly so, please contact one of the admins.

How to quote

The easiest way to quote a post is to click on the "Quote" button when you reply. The previous post will be wrapped in QUOTE tags. Another way is to copy and paste a piece of text and click on the QUOTE icon (looks like a cartoon "talk" bubble). Please consider editing the quote so that only so much of the previous posts that you feel is necessary for users to follow the thread is included. Very long quotes should be broken up or edited before you post them. Remember that quotes take up a lot of space in our database so keep them short. A long quote with a one-line reply is considered bad form. Moderators and administrators may edit long quotes.
